We’re rolling right along on finishing up our in-progress projects around the house. I’m itching to start on small living room and sitting room/study makeovers but on top of having to save most of our money for the impending deck projects, there’s still one big project that we started and never finished: the master closet.
You might be thinking to yourself, “Holy crap that’s a huge closet!” I wish our house came with a master closet this big, but this is actually the 4th bedroom. You see, we have two closets in our bedroom (one in the bedroom and one in the sink area) but neither of them are very large and we’ve had to keep all of our clothes stored in multiple closets throughout the upstairs. While I appreciate that we do, in fact have closets, we really wanted one space to keep all of our crap. At this point in our lives, we don’t actually need a fourth bedroom so it made sense to us to use this space as a closet. It’s separate from the other two spare bedrooms and it’s the smallest so it’s not like we’re sacrificing a huge space that could be used from something else.
Last January (yep, as in 2014), Kyle and I ripped out the old trim (which Kyle ended up throwing out the window instead of trying to maneuver downstairs) and I painted the walls (spoiler alter: they’re Hale Navy) and we started building the first of two custom units. At some point, we ran out of energy and money so the closet project stalled. I was able to eventually move all of my clothes in but Kyle has been keeping all of his clothes in 2 different closets upstairs. Here are a few photos from the beginning of the project:
Anyway, we have the materials for the second unit so now it’s just a matter of building it and getting everything painted. Of course, the closet won’t be done then because we need all sorts of other things to be done or bought. Here’s a handy dandy list which includes what has already been done because checking things off gives me some odd sort of satisfaction.

That’s lucky you can use a spare bedroom for a closet! Definite house goal haha. Good luck! Feel free to check out our blog, http://www.twinspiration.co 🙂
