Master Closet Update

August 26, 2015

We were able to get a good bit done in the closet over the weekend but after about 5:00 Sunday afternoon, we lost all motivation and I haven’t been able to make myself finish anything else. We need to paint the trim, paint the drawers, and hang the drawers. That’s pretty much it for the room to be functional (though I still have stuff like the mirror project to work on). We’re still waiting for the drawer hardware so we can’t finish those but there’s really no excuse for me not to paint the trim other than I’m lazy and our big comfy sofa is so much more appealing than a step ladder and a paint brush.

Here’s a very crappy sneak peek – after most of the trim was installed but before it was spackled, sanded, and caulked. This is a crop of a panorama taken on my phone so it’s a little funky – I promise the room doesn’t actually have angles like a fun house mirror.

Anyway, here’s the updated list!

Remove old trim
Remove hanging bar from the rooms previous closet, soon to be shoe closet
Remove curtains
Remove ceiling fan
Paint walls
Paint ceiling
Can lights? Decided against these.
Paint/Build storage units
Find dresser for center “island”
Create jewelry area – partially done.
Frame old bathroom mirror to use as leaning mirror
New outlets
Install track shelving for shoes
Install new trim
Caulk/paint new trim
Rug for center of room? – Unsure on this. I still want a rug but I can’t find anything I really like right now.
Buy center ceiling fixture
New door Decide to wait until we get new doors for the entire upstairs.
New blinds The blinds in here are fine. No need to upgrade to faux wood blinds and we could use the money elsewhere.
Curtain? Decided against this for now.
